May 19, 2016 begins the CHICCHAN, or serpent, trecena.
Kukulkan, the feathered serpent, is a revered Mayan deity that inspired the creation of many temples and pyramid, most notably the pyramid at Chichen Itza. During the spring and fall equinoxes, the sun illuminates the pyramid in such a manner that it looks like a serpent slithering down the side of the pyramid.
To the Maya, and many other cultures as well, the serpent is a powerful symbol of energy, fertility, life force and kundalini. The serpent’s creative message of going within, shedding skin and emerging renewed and healed was not lost on these cultures.
This 13-day period is about transformation and creation. During the last trecena, the EB trecena, you gained clarity about what your life path is. Connect with your spiritual destiny, release and heal what you need to in order to move forward, and let your inner knowing and intuition guide you to begin moving down that path.
This trecena can be an intense time, so have courage and faith as you continue on your spiritual journey.
