The Power of Love

The Power of Love

I was in Guatemala when I heard the news about the mass shooting in Las Vegas. Like many people, I was shocked and heartbroken. I tried to understand why someone would do this, what could possibly drive one person to take the lives of so many others. I sent prayers and healing energy to the victims and their families and friends. I talked with friends to try to define the exact issue that needed to be fixed to stop the senseless killing that seems to be more and more prevalent in our society.

It’s easy to feel powerless at times like these. What can we, as individuals, do to bring about change for something that seems to be so big and divisive?

We can love. Love is the most powerful energy on the planet. It can move mountains, create peace, and bring about lasting change. Love was present at the shooting.  You could see it in the many stories of courage and caring.

Love sounds simple, but it’s not. It’s easy to love the victims of a violent crime. But can you send love to the people who built the weapons and materials used for the crime? Can you send love to the shooter even while you decry with his actions?

This is what I have been working on this week. Embracing everyone – even the shooter – with love to help everyone heal while helping to dissipate the negative, harmful energy surrounding the shooting. Please join me.

My heart is with you Las Vegas.
